The best investment you can make
We all know how important it is to have a great set of teeth and a beautiful smile. Losing a tooth can make us feel less confident about ourselves, reduce our ability to eat and enjoy life to its maximum.
What is an implant?
An implant is a post which is placed into the gums to replace your missing tooth. Once healing has occurred around the post, an artificial tooth or crown is attached to it. Implants are durable and is a very long lasting option for replacing missing teeth. Currently, they have the highest success rate and durability compared to all other tooth replacement options. An implant will feel and look like your natural tooth.
The effect of a missing tooth
Did you know that having a single missing tooth can affect the way the rest of your teeth bite together? Your remaining teeth may tilt and drift into the gaps and food can get trapped in the spaces. This can cause an increased risk in tooth decay and gum disease. The effect of missing teeth can also be seen when you are not smiling as many people experience sagging of the facial muscles due to lack of support from teeth.
FSS-Dental can help you
First of all, you should know that for some patients, implants are NOT an option. For stability reasons, in most cases, posts need to be placed within the jaw bone. There is a high risk for the jaw bone to break when it is brittle or old, or if the structure is not suitable for attaching the post. We are not willink to risk this four our patients ever to happen. In Coron, Palawan, we are not equipped for surgery procedures which is why we recommend to have the surgery part of the treatment done in Manila. Please check our package section for details of implant packages with FSS-Dental.
Our Manila based partners provide the most up-to-date techniques and systems to bring you the best implant treatment available today:
We use materials with a proven track record for safety so we exclusively place well-known and well-researched European implant systems.
We avail of 3D CT scanner systems to help us better plan your treatment.
Our implant crowns are made by our expert technicians who will match the colour of your implant crown to your natural teeth as close as possible.
We have also treated many patients who have been told that they are unsuitable to have implant treatment due to a lack of bone. To overcome this problem, we have special procedures to regenerate bone using real or synthetic bone to enable you to have an implant placed.

Due to the fact that you most probably have a limited time only available in Coron, planing and scheduling is crucial.
Your first initial visit in our clinic in Coron will be a friendly consultation with our dentists to assess the implant area. We will take some x rays, photos and impressions of your teeth to finalize the plan for your treatment. Again, we will listen to possible concerns and answer additional questions that you may have before proceding.
Our dentist in charge will give you a final recommendation on if and how to proceed, and the final decision is yours.
Once you are satisfied with the treatment plan, the next step is to place the implant. Our dentist will perform a minor surgical procedure and local anaesthetic. The experience is not too different to having a filling and will generally last 20 minutes. You will be given a little stitch where the surgery is performed. This is removed 1 week later during your post operative review. You will experience some minor swelling around the implant site after the procedure which is completely normal. You will be given medication to ensure you have a speedy recovery. Full recovery generally take a few days.
It generally takes 3 months for the body to fully accept the implant. During this time you will have a denture made to replace the missing tooth.
After 3 months of healing, we will require a mold of your teeth to make your implant crown. This is a very comfortable process and does not require local anaesthetic. 1 week later your implant crown will be placed permanently on the implant.
Disadvantages of dental implants
The darker side of dental implants is that they can be costly when you compare them with the other traditional treatment options. This can amount up to ten times more, depending on several different features. Also, because dental implants are considered to be cosmetic surgery you won’t be able to get them covered by insurance most of the time.
Another point about dental implant is that you will need to go to the dentist again and again for several visits. Also, if it is a complicated dental implant then you will need to have all the more visits to the dentist. Dental implants are not bereft of any kind of pain such as the swelling to the surrounding tissues and the bruises. This will greatly vary based on the kind of patient and their bone structure.
At times, the dental implant surgery might not be successful as envisioned especially for patients with diabetes that is not controlled. You will find that the overall health of the person, the oral hygiene followed and the no smoking lifestyle will result in the outcome of the dental implants greatly.
